Biodynamics was developed by Rudolph Steiner around 1924. It is fully organic but in addition, cosmic factors such as the phases of the moon and energetic principles are taken into consideration in the farms' agricultural methods. All activities, such as sowing, planting or harvesting, take place in accordance with the annual lunar calendar, which indicates the most conducive days and times for them. Another priority is the management of grasses and legumes to build and maintain soil fertility and structure in a self-perpetuating way.

Great significance is attributed to imbuing the earth with life. A farm is also viewed as an organism, reflecting the whole diversity of nature. Special preparations are used for this purpose. They have a stimulating effect in the same way as homeopathic medicines.
