Goody Balls are a sweet yet healthy treat. Easy to make and popular in kids lunches.

  • 1 cup raisins or sultanas
  • 1 cup dates or figs
  • 1 cup almonds
  • half a cup of pepitas
  • half a cup of sunflower seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
  • 2 tablespoons of tahini
  • freshly squeezed orange juice
  • water (if extra liquid is needed)
  • honey to taste (if you have an extra sweet tooth)
  • Dessicated coconut or sesame seed for rolling in

Note: Ingredients in bold are generally available from Community Foods

Combine all fruit, nuts, seeds, tahini, vanilla essence in food processor adding enough orange juice to bind (not too much).

Either roll into balls covered with coconut or sesame seeds. An alternative is to press the mix into a greased lamington tray - chill, slice and wrap into bars.

Keeps well in the refrigerator. You can get adventurous with the ingredients too, it always tastes yummy. Just ask the kids.
